Maye is the former Chairman of Ram Tool Construction Supply Company, a Birmingham, Alabama based distribution company. Maye served in various roles at the family-owned company from 1997 – 2021, overseeing the growth of the company from less than $30 million in annual sales to close to $1 billion. Ram Tool was consistently one of the largest women-owned businesses and privately-owned businesses in Alabama. Ram Tool sold to White Cap, a private equity owned compeitor, in December 2021.
Maye continues to oversee real estate assets and work on development of commercial property throughout the Southeast and Texas. She also serves as a Board Member and chair of the Compensation Committee for ProAssurance.
Maye holds a B.A. in History from Yale University. She also attended the Sorbonne in Paris, France and worked in Paris for several years before returning to her hometown of Birmingham.
She serves as Chairman Emeritus for the Birmingham Museum of Art, a nationally accredited encyclopedic institution. She also serves as Past President on the Board of Trustees for the Highlands School, a kindergarten – 8th grade independent school, and as Treasurer for the Women’s Foundation of Alabama. In addition, Maye is a member board member of the Hugh Kaul Foundation, a philanthropic institition that has invested close to $80 million in the Greater Birmingham region, and of the Alabama Trails Foundation.
She lives in Birmingham with her husband, Bernard, and their two teenage daughters.
