Alabama Trails Foundation and Alabama Power Celebrate “Year of Alabama Trails” with New Signage at Little Fox Creek in Randolph County
LAKE WEDOWEE, AL — The Alabama Trails Foundation, in collaboration with Alabama Power Company, is pleased to announce the placement of a new commemorative “Year of Alabama Trails” sign at Little Fox Creek on Harris Lake (known locally as Lake Wedowee) in Randolph County.
This installation is part of a broad statewide effort to showcase Alabama’s diverse outdoor recreation sites. The new signage serves as an invitation for local residents and regional visitors to experience the natural beauty of the Lake Wedowee region, encouraging the public to explore a portion of the more than 120,000 acres of land maintained by Alabama Power.
Situated along the shores of the R.L. Harris Reservoir (Lake Wedowee), Little Fox Creek was selected for its exceptional combination of accessible outdoor recreation, lakeside views, and abundant wildlife. The day-use area features over 4 miles of walking paths, a wetland boardwalk, shaded picnic sites, and convenient water access. As a featured location along the Piedmont Plateau Birding Trail, Little Fox Creek offers ideal viewing conditions for waterfowl, songbirds, bald eagles, and ospreys throughout the year.
“Randolph County boasts some of the most scenic natural landscapes in East Alabama,” said Paul DeMarco, President of the Alabama Trails Foundation. “This new signage at Little Fox Creek emphasizes the essential role Alabama Power plays as a dedicated land manager. We are proud to partner with them to bring greater visibility to local trail networks across the entire state.”

Alabama Power Company manages the Little Fox Creek recreation area as part of its corporate commitment to public recreation, shoreline protection, and environmental stewardship.
