Start at the Porter’s Gap Trailhead for a high-reward 3.2-mile hike to Jogloma-Scott Lake along Alabama’s Pinhoti Trail (6.4 miles roundtrip). The path cuts through Talladega National Forest over rolling terrain and easy stream crossings, making it a straightforward, easy to moderate route for trail runners and casual hikers alike.
The main destination is Jogloma-Scott Lake, which features a newly built 60-foot steel bridge and a lakefront pier. The bridge makes navigating Dry Creek simple, while the pier extends over the quiet water to give you a dedicated spot to drop a pack, eat lunch, or take in the view before turning back.
Want more miles? Continue south past the lake along Section 4 toward Bulls Gap Trailhead. Pushing along this ridge over Horn Mountain adds rugged elevation and serious distance, turning an easy lake walk into a full-day or overnight trek.
