78 Bridge Survey

We want to hear your thoughts on a proposed improvement to the Pinhoti Trail in Alabama’s Talladega National Forest! This project focuses on a half-mile section of the trail near Heflin in Cleburne County. Right now, this stretch follows State Route 281 and crosses the U.S. Highway 78 along an exposed road shoulder.

Our goal is to create a safer and more enjoyable experience by rerouting the trail completely off-road. One exciting possibility includes building a pedestrian bridge over Highway 78. The new alignment would also safely cross the Norfolk Southern rail line before reconnecting with the existing off-road trail.

Your input will help us shape the future of this beloved trail. Thank you for being part of the conversation!
