Ms. Rauworth is the Director of Policy and Public Affairs at Lakeshore Foundation. She is also the Associate Director of the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability (NCHPAD) located within the University of Alabama Birmingham/Lakeshore Foundation Research Collaborative. NCHPAD is the only Center funded in the US focusing on Disability and Health Promotion. Ms. Rauworth has led NCHPAD’s efforts since 2003. Ms. Rauworth is a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist with the American College of Sports Medicine. Ms. Rauworth conducts inclusive trainings nationally on behalf of NCHPAD and specializes in advocacy and policy efforts that support inclusion. She strives for advocacy efforts that work in and among partnerships and collaborates with other like-minded entities that prioritize work based on the principle of solidarity and collective impact. She serves on several national committees including the Paralympic Research and Sport Science Consortium, the National Recreation Park Association (NRPA) Health and Wellness Advisory Panel and the Every Body Walks Collaborative Executive Committee, American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Presidential Task Force on Inclusion and CDC’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity Accessible Trails and Recreation Venues Work Group.
In Alabama, Ms. Rauworth is appointed to the Alabama Trails Commission and serves as the Chair of the Commission. She advocates for inclusive community design through active and universal transportation options that promote health equity for people with disabilities. Ms. Rauworth leads the strategic partnership initiative, content development and training within NCHPAD and directs the coordination of Commit to Inclusion, a global campaign to end the exclusion of people with disability from physical activity and all associated areas.
In addition, Ms. Rauworth has over 21 years of experience in health promotion development and implementation, focusing on the delivery of physical activity programming for people with disability across the lifespan. Outdoor recreation is a passion and she enjoys nature as often as possible with her husband and two children.
